Travel Updates: Aug 31, 2010 : 2010 Canadian International Air Show:

The Canadian International Air Show will be taking place at the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) at the following times:

Friday, September 3 1:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (practice session)
Saturday, September 4 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Sunday, September 5 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Monday, September 6 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Many of the aircraft will be operating from Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Identification Required

For all flights from Canada to International or U.S. destinations, passengers require passports as identification to check in, clear security, and board an aircraft. Those attempting to enter the U.S. by air without a passport will be prevented from boarding their flight.
Note: For some destinations, passports must be valid for at least six months after your departure date.

For inquiries, contact the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services at (905) 676-2563 or the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at (905) 676-2606. Canadian residents and residents of other countries who are travelling to the United States or other countries are advised to check the customs regulations of the destination country by contacting the appropriate government department or embassy.

For all flights within Canada, passengers require photo identification and a birth certificate to identify themselves as the traveller named on the ticket.

NEXUS LogoNEXUS is a partnership program between Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and U.S. CBP that allows members to clear the border faster in both countries when travelling between the United States and Canada.

CANPASS is a CBSA program that allows members to clear the border faster when travelling into Canadian airports.

Procedures for GST Rebate at Toronto Pearson

As of April 1, 2007, the Government of Canada has confirmed the cancellation of the Visitor Rebate Program and the introduction of the new Foreign Convention and Tour Incentive Program (FCTIP). The FCTIP is a new rebate program that provides GST/HST relief to non-resident consumers and non-resident, non-GST/HST-registered businesses for short-term and/or camping accommodation for tour packages, and for certain properties and/or services while staying in Canada. International and U.S. passengers may only claim Goods and Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax (GST/HST) rebates on eligible goods purchased prior to April 1, 2007 under specific procedures and regulations.
