Travel Updates: Jan 29, 2010 : Limited Carry-On Permitted for Passengers Travelling to the United States:

Transport Canada has announced new regulations regarding carry-on luggage for passengers travelling to the United States. Effective January 20, passengers on these flights are now permitted to take one piece of carry-on luggage on board the aircraft. The carry-on bag must not exceed 23 cm x 40 cm x 55 cm.

Transiting through Canada Border Services Agency between Connecting Flights

When connecting flights at Toronto Pearson, you may be required to transit through Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) or U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Refer to the table below for specific details about your flight.

NEXUS LogoNEXUS is a partnership program between CBSA and U.S. CBP that allows members to clear the border faster in both countries when travelling between the United States and Canada.

CANPASS is a CBSA program that allows members to clear the border faster when travelling into Canadian airports.

Baggage Claim and Recheck

On some connections, baggage must be claimed, processed through CBSA, and then rechecked at the respective check-in counter or at the ongoing/connection desk. All passengers connecting to U.S. flights will be required to claim their baggage. For other connections, check with your air carrier.

Be sure to pack all liquid and gel items—including duty free over 100 ml—in your hold baggage prior to checking in for your connecting flight. You must pack these items in your hold baggage either at the check-in counter or prior to placing your baggage on the connection baggage belt.

GTAA's LINK Train provides quick transit between terminals for passengers connecting to other flights. In fact, it takes less than two minutes to get from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3. The service is free, and runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
