FESTI Open House and Doors Open Mississauga

Date of Release: 2009/09/16

FESTI Open House and Doors Open Mississauga
Saturday September 19, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The GTAA has partnered with the City of Mississauga’s Culture Division to participate in Doors Open Mississauga on Saturday September 19. The Fire and Emergency Services Training Institute (FESTI) at Toronto Pearson has been chosen as a feature site for the program.

From 10:00 am – 4:00 p.m., the FESTI team will provide hourly demonstrations and activities.

• Watch as they simulate a residential fire and deploy the resources of Emergency Services to extinguish the fire.
• Don’t miss the unique opportunity to watch a response to a simulated aircraft emergency. It involves large fires and airport fire apparatus.
• Walk through the smoke tower to experience sensation of a smoke-filled environment. The smoke simulation is perfectly safe but shows the need for fire preparedness at home.
• Cheer on the rope rescue team as they descend from a 6 storey roof, rescue a trapped victim and bring him to safety.

Plus demonstrations from the GTAA Canine and Falcon Programs, fire equipment games for children and more!

Directions: The Fire and Emergency Services Training Institute is located at 2025 Courtneypark Drive East, Mississauga. From Dixie Road, proceed east on Courtneypark.
