Toronto Pearson TodayAirport firefighters get in the swing of things in support of the Children’s Wish FoundationDate of Release: 2007-09-21
On Monday, September 17, the annual Pearson Airport Firefighters Charity Golf Tournament was held at the Burlington Springs Golf Club. Through sponsorships and raffles, more than $4,400 was raised, with proceeds going to the Children’s Wish Foundation—a charity long supported by GTAA Emergency Services. Ed Ireland, GTAA Fire Prevention Officer and Director of Golf for the day, is proud of how popular the tournament has become. “This annual event began in 1997 with only eight players and this year we had 128 participants,” says Ireland. “Everyone had a great time and it’s great to know that you’re contributing to a wonderful cause in the process.” The foursome headed up by Richard Bertram won this year’s tournament. The GTAA is proud to be involved with the Children’s Wish Foundation.
