Toronto Pearson TodayGTAA Welcomes Jet Airways to Toronto PearsonDate of Release: 2007/09/04
On Sept. 5th, the GTAA will proudly welcome the inaugural flight of Jet Airways, one of India’s premier airlines, into Toronto Pearson’s Terminal 1. Abraham Joseph, Senior General Manager for Jet Airways in Toronto, is excited by the support being offered to make this happen. “When our start-up operations team came to Toronto to assess the airport, they had only positive things to say about Toronto Pearson and the GTAA, and I found out the same for myself when I arrived in May of this year.” Operating the brand new Airbus 330-200 aircraft on this route, Jet Airways will depart from Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport to Toronto, via Brussels International Airport. The flight will operate daily except Tuesday and Thursday. As of Dec. 2, 2007, the Toronto service will operate daily. Earlier this year, Jet Airways expanded its international operations to include Newark as its first North American destination. Toronto is the second. This flight will therefore also give Jet Airways passengers an opportunity to connect to New York (Newark) via its European hub in Brussels. At Brussels, flights will be synchronized in order to provide passengers seamless transfer access between Delhi and Newark and Mumbai and Toronto. Jet Airways currently operates a fleet of 65 aircraft. With an average fleet age of less than five years, this airline offers one of the youngest aircraft fleets in the world. The airline currently operates more than 340 flights daily to 52 destinations spanning all of India and beyond, including Nepal, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Thailand, Belgium, United States of America and Canada. The airline plans to extend its international operations in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia in phases with the introduction of wide-body aircraft into its fleet. On Oct. 28, 2007, Jet Airways will add New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport via Brussels, its third North American destination. The timing of these flights will give passengers extensive cross-connection at their European hub. “This will mean a lot to Indian Canadians as they tend to keep strong ties with their homeland and travel at least once a year to India,” said Joseph. “Our new direct service to India is extremely convenient for passengers as there’s no layover.” Although the flights between Canada and India are inevitably lengthy, Jet Airways passengers will have some added comforts to make their journey more enjoyable. One example of this includes 30 seats in Premiere Class. Furthermore, all passengers shall enjoy a state-of-the-art in-flight Panasonic eX2 Entertainment system that offers more than 200 hours of Hollywood and Bollywood movies, regional films, television and short programming, audio CDs covering every imaginable music genre and much, much more, at no extra cost.
