GTAA raises more than $81,000 for the United Way

Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) employees should be very proud of their achievements in this year’s United Way Campaign. At the close of the campaign, more than 200% of the target, or $81,000, was achieved. This is amazing. Although the campaign has come to a close at the GTAA, the United Way of Peel Region’s campaign confidently marches on.

With such fabulous and engaging events highlighted by the Plane Pull and Silent Auction, it is no surprise that the estimated amount of $40,000 was exceeded. It is heartening to see employees of the GTAA are committed to rallying around such a great cause.

“I never once doubted that we would exceed our target, and collecting $81,000 in donations illustrates just how much of a community we are here at the GTAA,” said Toby Lennox, GTAA Vice President of Corporate Affairs. “This contribution will help improve the lives of those affected by hunger, homelessness and poverty. We look forward to working with the United Way in the next year and to exceeding this year’s contribution.”

Not only did the staff take the time out of their busy schedules to make this year’s campaign such a resounding success, they also put their money and energy into making the campaign one of the best yet. Every staff member deserves a big thank you. From purchasing raffle tickets, to carving pumpkins for the Pumpkin Sculpting Challenge; from plane pulling and cheerleading, to dressing up on Halloween, it’s important to recognize that without all of you there would have been no way!

Shelley White, CEO for United Way of Peel Region, also shares in this sentiment. “GTAA has clearly demonstrated the outstanding results that can be achieved when people work together toward a common goal. Your generous support of United Way will touch hundreds of thousands of lives and help create long-lasting positive change in our community.”

With the United Way’s Day of Caring behind them and with other exciting events planned in the months to come, the United Way of Peel Region’s current campaign total stands at over $4 million. The GTAA is proud to be a partner in this long standing tradition that motivates and inspires our staff to make a long-lasting change, not only for themselves but also for those in the community.
