Canine Unit

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) Canine Unit is establishing itself as one of the top canine units in North America.

As safety and security requirements at Canadian airports increase, the Unit continues to receive recognition for its high canine standards. The Unit is extremely proud of the fact that its standards are among the highest in North America, and exceed both Transport Canada and U.S. Federal Aviation Administration criteria. This achievement is only made possible with a truly committed proactive canine service.

Recognition for the Unit not only raises the profile of the canine unit industry as a whole, but also bolsters the GTAA’s reputation for providing both travelers and area residents with the highest degree of safety and security possible.

The Unit combines canine searches with trace and vapour explosive detection methods to help maintain a safe environment for the 31.5 million passengers annually traveling through Canada’s busiest airport.
