Airside Safety

The overall goal of Airside Safety is to maintain a safe and efficient environment for aircraft, vehicles, personnel, and the travelling public. The department also promotes airport safety through posters, videos, and educational awareness programs.

Airside Safety Officers (ASOs) play a key role under the division of Public Safety. This highly skilled and well trained team is fully diversified within all aspects of the airside environment. Airside Safety Officers are operational 24/7 to monitor compliance in a wide variety of disciplines, including security, environment, wildlife control, aviation standards, noise management, and construction activities.

The team responds to different levels of emergencies and investigates all airside incidents and accidents. This department places great emphasis on the Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP) program, administering tests, and monitoring and enforcing all aspects of the program, as per the GTAA Airport Traffic Directives.
