Airport Improvement Fee

The GTAA Airport Improvement Fee (AIF) is collected through tickets of departing and transferring passengers by the airlines on behalf of the GTAA.

The AIF is used to fund capital expenses and the associated debt that comes along with those capital expenses. The redevelopment of the airport was a major infrastructure project at Toronto Pearson, and while the construction work is complete, the debt payments associated with that work continue.

The AIF for departing passengers is $25 and the fee for connecting passengers is $8. The fees are in Canadian dollars and exclusive of applicable taxes.
